We’ve recently been involved in a case of incorrect measurement that nearly cost a property owner the deal.
An industrial unit was up for sale on the South Coast. An offer was made on the unit and Daniells Harrison Chartered Surveyors were instructed by the purchaser’s bank to carry out a valuation on the property.
As part of our valuation we use industry standard laser measurement tools and we found the property was some 750 square feet less than the selling agent had quoted. This impacted on the value of the property, reducing it by 20%.
This highlights the importance of a thorough and careful inspection when selling and, when buying, use a qualified Valuation Surveyor to ensure you are paying the right price.
