We recently carried out an aerial drone inspection on a Victorian road bridge in Newhaven, East Sussex.
The cast iron bridge crosses the River Ouse near Lewes. We were asked to take footage of the inaccessible areas beneath the bridge on behalf of the contractors, to determine the present condition.
We piloted the drone at low tide and took detailed video footage of the timber dolphins. These are wooden struts that surround the cast iron columns and protect the bridge from impact damage with passing boats.
The drone (unmanned aerial vehicle as it is officially known) is the perfect tool for carrying out surveys and inspections in hard to access places. Find out more about our aerial drone inspections and surveys here or contact Richard Huffer.
