Extension to 18th century cottage

building extension bishops waltham

An 18th century cottage in Bishops Waltham has been given a new lease of life thanks to our Architectural and Building Surveying teams.

The timber framed cottage underwent a major refurbishment with three separate additions to the property.  A first floor was added above the workroom area at one end of the cottage for a bedroom and en-suite bathroom.  Built above the existing timber-framed workroom, the first floor was constructed to match the existing fabric.  At the other end, an oak framed garden room and patio were built.  Whilst externally, a new detached double garage with loft space was constructed.

It was a team effort within Daniells Harrison Chartered Surveyors.  Our Architectural department designed the extension and submitted for planning permission,  listed building consent and building regulations approval.  Once permissions was granted, our Building Surveying team prepared the building specification, tendered the works and supervised the build, in their role of  Contract Administrators.

The result is a beautifully sympathetic build which blends in perfectly with the rest of the character cottage.  The before and after pictures speak for themselves.
