The complete rebuild of a doctor’s surgery into a state-of-the-art health care centre, was ably assisted by Daniells Harrison Chartered Surveyors. Despite the many challenges of COVID the project was completed both on time and in budget with the new building open to patients in March 2021.
We were appointed to carry out a valuation for loan purposes. The GP partners selected the construction company and brought in Steve Dickinson, from our Building Surveying team, to monitor the works on behalf of the lending institutions and the doctors.
Steve carried out regular site visits from the commencement of the works in January 2019 through to practical completion in March 2021, attending site meetings, reviewing the progress of the works and keeping the bank and GP team up to date with the project.
On top of his standard monitoring he had to deal with the challenges of COVID, ensuring the correct regulations were in place to meet COVID requirements.
The original surgery building comprised a single storey building with dormers and limited offices and accommodation. The two-year project saw it transformed into a three-storey cedar clad BREEAM compliant building under a steel profile sheet domed roof. The surgery now provides services to 14,500 patients and incorporates other local health care facilities within its many treatment rooms.
